A Note on Terminology
At UCI, when we talk about financial reports, we often use several different terms including: Reporting, Decision Support, Cognos, and Data Warehouse/BLISS. When we talk about "Reporting" on this site, we're referring in a general way to the numerous financial reports used at UCI for business analysis and planning purposes.
"UCI Decision Support" is where most of these financial reports come from. Decision Support is the campus business intelligence platform, which includes applications like IBM Cognos, Legacy Data Warehouse/BLISS, the Electronic Document Library (EDL), and eDocs Document Images. Of these Decision Support tools, Cognos is the primary application UCI uses for generating most financial reports.
Recently, the old Data Warehouse interface BLISS (Business Logic Information Selection System) was also brought back into service for creating ad-hoc reports from the General Ledger.
