Cognos Reports Migrate to the Cloud This Weekend
Sent to the AFS-Update mailing list on Nov. 16
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) plans to migrate UCI’s Cognos reports to a new cloud-based server over the weekend. While report functionality isn’t changing, campus report users should be prepared for the following impacts:
What Does This Mean for Users?
-
- Cognos Report Availability: The migration will begin Friday, but campus users will still be able to run reports as normal except for a period of downtime from about 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov 17, to noon on Saturday, Nov. 18.
- Update Your Bookmarks and Links: The URLs for all Cognos reports will be changing from cognos.oit.uci.edu/ibmcognos to uci.ca.analytics.ibm.com. Redirects will be in place through the rest of the year, but you should plan to update any bookmarks in your browser or links on department websites as soon as possible.
- New Login Screen Before UCI Single Sign-On (SSO): Starting at about noon on Saturday, Nov. 18, you will see a new IBM login screen when accessing reports. Here’s what to enter:
- IBMid is your UCInetID@uci.edu. This will be prompted each time you login, but you can select "Remember me" to have the page remember your account.
- First Login: For the first time after you login, an IBMid will be created, and you will need to acknowledge the IBMid Account Notices.
- UCInetID SSO: You will be prompted to complete the log in process using your UCInetID after you enter your email address for the IBMid. If you work in Health Sciences, see the next note.
- Health Sciences Employees: Your login will be UCInetID@uci.edu NOT UCInetID@hs.uci.edu. If you enter @hs.uci.edu, you will be asked for an IBMid password instead of going to UCI's single sign-on. If you get this screen, please check you are using @uci.edu or contact the EEC.
Have questions or concerns? Report any issues you are experiencing to the Cognos Support team by emailing oit@uci.edu and ask for the ticket to be assigned to the Cognos Support team.
