UCI recently updated its campus policy and delegations related to business travel and entertainment expenses. The update does not introduce new rules or requirements – instead, the changes are intended to make these resources easier to use and aligned with current UC policies and governmental regulations. Campus business offices should be aware of the two major updates:
- UCI’s Policy on Travel Authorization and Approval was updated so that it is in alignment with the University of California’s travel policy (UC Policy G-28: Travel Regulations) and other requirements issued by state and federal organizations. The document includes useful information for departments about how UC travel policy is implemented on the Irvine campus.
- UCI Delegation of Authority IDA632 was created to clearly list which campus administrators have the authority to approve exceptions to travel and entertainment regulations (or grant additional approval where required). IDA632 supersedes several older delegations.
Keep in mind that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, UCI’s Executive Directive on Travel remains in effect and all non-essential travel should be postponed until further notice. If you have any questions about travel or entertainment reimbursement, please contact the Accounts Payable Travel Accounting team at travel-accounting@uci.edu.
