The Kuali Financial System will be updated with a major enhancement to its backend workflow engine and some minor user interface changes on Saturday, Nov. 20. While we don’t expect this update to significantly impact campus business operations, users should be aware of the changes listed below and plan to clear their browser's cookies and cache immediately after the update to avoid any issues.
Action List Display & Preferences
After the update, the KFS Action List will have a more modern user interface that matches the rest of the financial system. The ability to color-code documents in your Action List (Preferences) will no longer be available, sincebecause it doesn't conform to current web standards. While the appearance and color option is changing, all other features will remain the same.
Document Search & Person Document
The KFS Doc Search and custom document search screens will also receive an upgraded user interface and a more adaptive screen display. The features and fields you use to search for documents will not change, but the results will be easier to read thanks to an improved responsive design. Small changes may be noticibable as well, like the number of search results found in a document search, will switch from displaying on the left, to the right side of the result search screen.
Similarly, the “Person” e-doc (i.e., the screen that shows a user’s basic department information and current/past roles in KSAMS) will have a more compact format that makes it easier to see someone’s current roles and access.
Action List Email Links & Web Addresses
The web addresses for all KFS e-docs and Action List links will change after the backend workflow engine upgrade is complete. As a result, any links in Action List reminder emails you received prior to the update will stop working after Nov. 20. Links in reminder emails sent after the update will work correctly. Some browsers can save old links, which is why it is highly recommend to clear your browser's cookies & cache completely to avoid errors.
Links to KFS on ZotPortal will also be updated, but there may be some brief access issues during the weekend, as we work to make the changes necessary. Users can always access KFS and their Action List from ZotPortal if they have trouble opening a particular link.
Please Refresh your Navigation menu, if receiving errors while on the KFS Homepage or performing a custom search. The "Refresh Navigation" menu can be accessed by clicking on your Initials/Name, in the left side bar menu.
Be sure to update any personal bookmarks or saved links within the department's documenation, if you had saved hyperlinks to KFS search screens or KFS eDocs.
