This weekend, the KFS Team activated an enhancement that ensures financial documents will post to the General Ledger in their selected monthly fiscal period when approved and finalized in compliance with deadlines. This change does not impact month-end deadlines for any document and no action is required from campus units, but financial managers should be aware of this accounting change.
As a result of this change, all documents that have the fiscal period drop-down will now “post-back” to the last day of the closing month if they are finalized during the five working days after the monthly fiscal period ended. In the past, these documents posted to the correct fiscal period but had a transaction date based on their finalized date in the following month. For example, a General Error Correction could post to the May fiscal period with a transaction date of June 6. In this new configuration, that document would now show a transaction date of May 31. This new change will make audits easier and less complicated for outside organizations unfamiliar with our internal closing processes.
