DWQuery Upgraded with New Attributes and More

Sent to the KFS-Update Mailing List on March 8, 2018.

We’re pleased to announce that DWQuery has gone through some upgrades based on user feedback. Many users have begun to use DWQuery and thousands of queries have been run since the release in January. Here is a quick summary of some of the enhancements:

  • New Account Attributes like Fiscal Officer and Account Manager have been added
  • GEC Document Reference Number has been added
  • Project Code Attributes like Project Organization and Project Manager can now be queried.
  • Sorting Columns should be easier with the release of some bug fixes

If you experience any issues with this update, please clear your browser cache and log out and back into DWQuery. For more details on the changes, see the DWQuery KFS GL Guide.

Advisory on Very Large Queries and Excel

While DWQuery can handle large datasets, some datasets will exceed Microsoft Excel's limits. We advise users to be reasonable with their queries and to never query the entire UCI ledger. At minimum, users should filter on something within the tabs of DWQuery. If the results of your query will likely exceed 1 million rows, you should break up your query to make it more manageable. Here is Microsoft's article on Excel's limitations.
