A user role designed to manage access to UCI’s Chart of Accounts (COA) went into effect on May 1, 2017. Since the launch of the Kuali Financial System, basic KFS users had access to the e-documents used to maintain the COA. That open access unfortunately led to difficulties with maintaining a clean Chart of Accounts. To address this problem, the Accounting Department created the new Chart of Accounts Maintenance User role. Users granted this role in KSAMS are able to maintain accounts within their organization, including the ability to copy or edit accounts.
The COA Maintenance User role should be granted to KFS users who maintain accounts for their organization. For the initial rollout, users with experience maintaining accounts may be given this role. In the future, training will be required before this role will be granted.
Fiscal Officers and Users with Basic KFS Access
If you are a Fiscal Officer in KFS, you automatically retain the ability to maintain sub-accounts, sub-object codes, project codes, and account delegates. Basic KFS users have no access to COA maintenance.

Request Access in KSAMS
Access to the Chart Of Accounts Maintenance User role can be granted now by your Departmental Security Administrator (DSA). The role is hierarchal, meaning you only need to request access for the lowest reports-to organization, not the organizations beneath. To look up the role in KSAMS, .
