In the coming weeks, employees and retirees will receive IRS Form 1095 verifying their health coverage for 2016 – one of the requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This year, the IRS extended the original mailing deadline for Form 1095 from Jan. 31, 2017, to March 2, 2017. The University of California, Office of the President (UCOP) was on track to meet the original deadline, but the process has slowed somewhat to await the possibility of additional information.

Please note: The IRS has advised taxpayers that they do not need to delay filing their tax returns until they receive Forms 1095-B and 1095-C. You may use other information about your health coverage to prepare your returns, and you are not required to submit a copy of the 1095-B or 1095-C form when you file.
