Sales and Use Tax Rate Decreases on Jan. 1, 2017

The California Board of Equalization has announced a decrease in the state portion of the total sales and use tax rate by 0.25 percent effective Jan. 1, 2017. This decrease is the result of the expiration of Proposition 30, The Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act of 2012, which imposed a temporary increase in the statewide sales and use tax rate.

The Kuali Financial System will be updated to reflect this change on Jan. 1. If necessary, UCI merchants should take steps to ensure non-KFS systems and processes are also updated to reflect the new rate.
